Renovation and requalification of the former convent in Craviano, a place for psycho-physical recovery of children healing from cancer, together with their families. Marco Porcellini: architectural direction, with Giorgia Truzzi, creation and execution. The architectural project must facilitate the gathering of these families within the convent, through the suggestions and the time nuances, amplified creating an ideal atmosphere for families and therapists. The elements that we considered of greater importance, and on which we worked on are: elegance, sobriety, already present in the ancient building, and the serenity. This place becomes the key that opens the door of Fantasy, moving all members of the family, working at a deeper, subliminal level, creating unusual atmospheres, without inhibitions (more abstracted than figurative) and a little surreal too. It results in a process that awakes the imagination. To obtain this, we use two systems: the use of art without the presumption of being so and contemporary trompe d’oil that, in this case, are not pictorial, or at least, not only pictorial, and are created with a game of mirrors, glasses and special pigments, projections and retro-illumination that create optical illusions.
